Twitter consumer Kimber Dowsett was tolerated and waiting to catch a flight when she caught breath of a couple arguing.

Like most of us would( though we might not acknowledge it ), she immediately concluded herself listening in on the juicy drama.

When she realise what the argument was about, she drew out her phone and began documenting the incident on Twitter for the well being of her 24,000 followers.

The couple was indicating about money, but not in a “What do you mean you forgot to pay the gas greenback ?! ” kind of acces. It was large than that.

The woman had been offered a advertisement at work, and Dowsett couldn’t accept she was listening to the woman’s partner — a follower — telling her to curdle it down .

He’d be “humiliated, ” he told her, if she made more fund than him, explaining that if she really loved him, she’d pass the advertising down.

Really.

As Dowsett continued listening in, “the mens” changed the bayonet, so to speak, demanding his partner situated his feelings above her career.

Shocked and antagonized, Dowsett sat at her airfield door, listening as the status of women originated hollering, promising her collaborator she’d never jeopardize such relationships. When “the mens” continued to contend she turn away the number of jobs, Dowsett couldn’t used to help. “I really want to punch him, ” she tweeted.

It merely went downhill from there.

According to Dowsett, the man had simply presupposed that his partner would eventually “re just leaving her” place altogether to take care of the adolescents. There’s no target focusing on her job anyway, he told her.

“I can’t believe this is 2017, ” Dowsett tweeted.

The dramatic push resolved, Dowsett wrote, when the woman stormed off, leaving her now-ex to go on vacation with his own damn self.

Apparently Dowsett wasn’t the only person who overheard the fight, as the people waiting at the entrance burst into applause for the status of women when she shed her boarding pass at her ex and told him to have fun in Cancun.

The Tweet thread moved viral, with people praising the woman or exactly experiencing the absurdity of it all.

For all the conversation’s viral merriment, there’s more than a seed of awkward reality in this story.

The wage gap still exists, but wives are becoming more and more likely to be the breadwinners in their households and relationships. And that’s not only single mothers. Some forecasts say about a quarter of all weddings include a woman who deserves more than her spouse — a number that has quadrupled since the ‘6 0s.

This is a good act — clearly! It’s a clue that maids are kicking ass in the workplace and lastly getting more opportunities to advance, despite the compensation crack and unprofessional behavior and other roadblocks maids face in the workplace.

As the disagreement above evidences, however, it’s not a cozy transition for every couple. After all, there is immense societal influence on humankinds to “provide for the family” and on gals to slip into motherly, keeper capacities.

For the affection of equality, dudes, don’t be like Airport Guy. Be proud of your women and sweethearts and partners for their accomplishments.

“Equal pay” is exclusively going to get more equal, and the number of women in heterosexual relationships who out-earn or accord what their male spouses originate got to go marching closer and closer to half.

Being a soul does not entitle you to a higher salary. Not anymore. Being lock in your manlines and has become a encouraging spouse implies celebrating your significant other’s successes. It means be promoted to be their best and being proud of them when they succeed, even if it means they might be doing “better” than you.

Yes, some people might think it’s “weird” if a partner or girlfriend procreates more money, but things are changing and it’s duration we all get with the program.

Don’t get embroiled away with this outdated opinion of how things “should be” — or risk being commemorated by a viral Tweet thread in which you come off looking like a total jackass. It’s much better to exactly enjoy having a relationship with a talented, intelligent, and daring bride, if you’re luck enough to have one.
